Grid that I have made are underneath the guide

This is a guide to make accurate paint tool designs using photoshop.

First off pick the design you want to create. I will be using the nWo logo.
Posted Image

Then create a new image on photoshop.

Then go to edit, preferences, and then guides grids and slice.
Posted Image

Then use the setting i have used below.Posted Image

Then go to view, show, and then grids.
Posted Image

Then go to view and check that extras has a tick next to it, if it hasnt, click it.
Posted Image

Then go to edit, image size. If the image is taller than it is wide, make the height 255pixels. Or change the width to 255pixel if it is wider.
Posted Image

And then go to image, mode, and click Indexed Colour.
Posted Image

Then change the amount of colours in the box that appears, to how many colours there are in your image, i put 2 as there is only black and white., this will make it easier to copy the grid across from photoshop to the game.

Then click the magnifine glass tool on the left hand side toolbar and zoom in to different sections of your image and copy it across.

To make it easier, press ctrl-r to show the ruler, and right click the ruler and click pixels. Use you mouse to line with the pixel that you are copying across, this axis will line up the the one in the game.

When you have zoomed in and put the ruler up, you ill have something that looks like the image below. On the ruler, the top ruler represents the x axis on the paint tool, and the left ruler represents the y axis, the zoom amount that i use is 1817.41.

To use these images, copy the image into photoshop, and simply add the grid, and zoom and copy across

.. It's wonderful to know that I can design and import in Photoshop because I find trying to use that paint tool with the PS3 controller a right pain. I'm still unsure from the tutorial how you A) Know the image you're creating is going to line up in the game and B) How do you import it? What extention/s does the game recognise?

Okay.. I have read a bit further elsewhere and I see what you're doing. That's incredibly time consuming and a bit impractical if, like me, you only have one monitor shared by the PC and PS3. Surely there has to be another way to import directly into the appropriate game file? It would be so much simpler to create in PS and whip them across to the PS3.

As far as I am aware you cannot import from Photoshop on the PC into the game on the PS3 via a flash drive. This method uses Photoshop to scale an image into hi res or low (255 or 12 and then magnify it so you can then copy it MANUALLY pixel for pixel. It would work but you'd need a lot of time and patience and two monitors or a lot of graph paper.
